The reason why I chose to go with the Black Forest Industries Insert was due to the fact that after careful research with all the other brands, I noticed that BFI used the strongest grade of polyurethane, 90A. So now you may ask, "Ok ok Ive read enough, so how is it on the road, or does it withstand the pressures of driving after awhile on the road?" And my answer is that this was possibly a good $40 investment that went into the car. This insert was designed to specifically fit in the hollow voids to create one solid mount to prevent less rocking.
That is why this polyurethane insert comes into play. You can also feel your engine rock without the insert when you are simply sitting in a stand still spot and revving. I dont know why Volkswagen decided to do this, but basically with these hollow spots being present, it causes the rubber to get "squishy" should I say and causes the engine to rock under hard acceleration or shifting. When looking at the bottom of the stock dogbone mount you notice a few hollow spots in the rubber. Thus I was hoping that this insert would help my shifting issues. No matter how slow or how fast I was driving, when I would shift the car would always lurch and you would feel a slight lag in your shifts due to the engine rocking. Shifting as quick as I can while trying to prevent the car from lurching, aka "achieving the smooth shift." I noticed that it was fairly hard to do so.
To put this mount to the test I first drove really hard in my car before the install.

The steps were to support the bottom of the engine with a jack using a piece of wood to balance out the engine on the jack and to not damage the oil pan, take out the bolt in the rear of the dogbone mount, install the insert into the dogbone mount by using some effort, then install the bolt back. The install was fairly simple and only took about 20 minutes. The install of this mount went into a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit 2.5L.
